How to keep a baby warm

How to keep a baby warm:
An arrangement to keep a normal baby warm and safe from cold

Maintain the room temperature warm

Keep the Doors and windows closed (but not all) which cause direct wind in the room.

Cover and put cloths on the baby, wrap it up with clean cloth and place it close to its mother.

Initiate early breast-feeding.

Be ensuring that the room is warm and the baby is not left uncovered.

Don’t pour oil in to any orifice, like the nose or ears at any time.

How to re-warm a baby who has got cold:

(When the body temperature is in between 97 °F and 95°F)
Increase the room temperature.
Remove any wet things like blankets and cloths from the baby’s room.
Hold the baby with its skin next to its mother’s skin (skin-to-skin contact, which is called Kangaroo Mother Care) and place a warmed cloth (not too hot to avoid burns) on its back or chest. As this cloth cools down, replace it with another warmed one, and repeat until the baby is warmer. Continue the same process until the baby’s temperature reaches the normal range.
Continue to breastfeed the baby to provide more calories and fluids to prevent a drop in the blood glucose level.
Put on the baby cap and woollen cloths and keep it closer to its mother.

You are advised to contact a doctor, first.
In the meanwhile, place skin- to- skin contact (the mother should keep the baby continuously in the middle of her breast and stomach with wrapped woollen cloths from outside (mother and child together should be wrapped). When the baby is a little warmer , then put on wormed clothes to baby and place in a pre-warmed bed. In a more critical condition, a hot stone or hot Water-bottle should be kept inside the bed to warm the bed but that must be removed before putting baby in the bed.
