Newborn’s Umbilical Cord Care



Every mother should know how to care newborn Eyes, skin and Cord, carefully, wisely and properly. There are some medically approved suggestions to care Umbilical cord of a newborn baby.
  • Cord should be kept clamped for at least 24 hours after the birth. The clamp can be removed when the cord is dried and occluded.

  • No application of any medicine is required if there is no bleeding or discharge.

  • The umbilical cord should be kept clean and dry at all times.

  • Mother should handle carefully the cord (avoiding a pull) while dressing or wrapping the baby.
